As a nighttime treatment, this serum was intended to help reduce and even erase the signs of aging including fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. This advanced serum was formulated by a Sephora skin care brand called Cosmedicine and based off of brand alone we would have expected the cocktail of vitamins, antioxidants, and peptides to do the trick.

The active ingredient in MegaDose PM Skin Fortifying Serum was 1.0% dimethicone. Dimethicone is an excellent way to hydrate your skin. The rest of the formula is actually impressive as well—which you might not have expected for a discontinued product.

The formula also offered a high concentration of retinol. Retinol works great for naturally aged skin to improve fine wrinkling and even helps protect the skin against further damage. For additional benefits, MegaDose PM Skin Fortifying Serum contains multiple vitamins including vitamin B, C, and E.

In order to significantly reduce wrinkles, this serum used a combination of the two peptides palmitoyl oligopeptide and palmitoyl tetrapeptide. Peptides seep into the skin to promote collagen production to re-firm the skin.

So where did MegaDose PM Skin Fortifying Serum go wrong? The anti-aging blend of ingredients isn’t bad at all. The real problem with this product isn’t what you would have guessed. As a more expensive serum ($85), this serum fell short of consumer expectations because of its smell. Countless reviews about this product report an unbearable odor. An additional downfall is the serum’s use of four parabens that could irritate the skin.

Overall, MegaDose PM Skin Fortifying Serum was not what it could have been.
